From the last SACH Executive meeting

The two main topics for discussion at the last meeting of the Executive were data protection and registration for chaplains. As most of you will know a new data protection ruling means that chaplains may no longer be able to access information about patients unless explicit consent is given. There is uncertainty at the moment about what this will mean in practice but some Trusts in Scotland have already acted on the ruling and are withdrawing information. We are in touch with the Scottish Executive on this.
The issue of registration for chaplains is being taken forward - albeit slowly. We began to look at post-registration education and practice. Watch this space.
